Right just after independence in 1947 the country was a union of 550+princely states. Sri sardar vallabhai patels bold move of unification of all the indian states into 26 states made us all more strongly united in away to avoid unnecessary differences. After my stay of nearly 7 years (2005-07) &(2009-2014) in Northern part of india at IIT kanpur, i observed the some prominent cultural differences mainly because of demographic conditions.
Himalayas stops the the stronger cold winds from siberia though there will be some bitter cold is prevailed in North(North India) than compared to Southern part of India. The southern part is much much hotter than the North despite the flow of cold winds from North which are obstructed by the vindhya satpura range hills.
Now here are my points that i want to mention,
1. Northern ladies use lipstick made of wax or vaseline as every women do in Western countries for the cold reason but in south it is not a necessity.
2. North people do tuck their shirts into pant called in-shirt to avoid heat outflow, where as south people use lungies for better air flow to dry out the body sweat and temparature.
3. Lot of items are made of butter or milk in North so that they get enough fat to melt it during winter shivering and the food intake is mostly solid or less liquified. while in south rasam or sambhar or coconut water are main items in food culture.
4. True indians were actually black but after a lot of invasions from outside like parsians mughals and greeks and their rape attempts on indian women And also possible mixing up of their own tribes into the indian civilised society made lot of people in north of colour between black and white. This may be a reason why north friends like to believe that they are aryans.
